On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Al-Muntada Hall at the Yasser Arafat Museum hosted the official launch of the book “Israeli Apartheid Against the Palestinian People: Conceptual Debates and Forms of Resistance,” published by the International Academic Campaign Against Israeli Occupation and Apartheid.

The event began with a moment of silence and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in honor of the late President Yasser Arafat and all the martyrs of Palestine and the Arab world.

Dr. Ahmad Soboh, Chairman of the Yasser Arafat Foundation, welcomed attendees and opened the ceremony by emphasizing the symbolic significance of launching this book near the tomb of the founding President and from within his final trench of struggle. He expressed gratitude to the International Academic Campaign for publishing this significant work and extended appreciation to the authors, researchers,
and contributors involved.

Dr. Soboh noted that the book’s introduction clearly outlines how Palestinians are facing an integrated system designed to entrench the occupation and accelerate forced displacement. He highlighted how the book offers a detailed breakdown of the various dimensions and manifestations of apartheid practices faced by the Palestinian people.

He also reminded attendees that the day marked 671 days of systematic genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, with the human toll—61,000 martyrs, 149,000 injured, 13,000 missing persons, and over 17,000 arrests—based on evolving estimates that remain incomplete and provisional.

Dr. Soboh condemned the ongoing starvation, destruction, and killing
aimed at displacing Gaza’s population, and spoke of the repeated violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque by settler groups, the militarization of the West Bank through checkpoints and barriers, and the inhumane conditions faced by Palestinian prisoners, as well as the looting of Palestinian tax revenues.

He stated: “The Israeli right-wing seized upon October 7 to unleash its full agenda across all fronts. It escalated the war of extermination and starvation, attempting to impose a new geopolitical reality in the region—yet it has failed to shift the core of the Palestinian cause. This exposes both its limitations and inability to claim victory.”

Dr. Soboh emphasized that, in the face of such challenges, Palestinians must prioritize national interests and urgently pursue comprehensive national unity and dialogue.

The book launch included remarks by Dr. Amjad Barham, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Ramzi Odeh, Secretary-General of the International Academic Campaign Against Israeli Occupation and Apartheid.

The event also honored the authors and researchers who contributed to the book, with brief speeches delivered by some of them. In addition, commemorative plaques were exchanged between the Yasser Arafat Foundation and the Academic Campaign in recognition of their partnership.
